Default How much does waxing hurt?

I've never had the guts to wax. I know it's a better option than shaving and would have longer affects, but I'm nervous to try it. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to prep yourself to get waxed. Is there any way of making it less painful?

Well, it probably depends on what you get waxed. The only thing I ever wax is my eyebrows. It hurts bad enough that I would never get a bikini wax, but it doesn't hurt bad enough for me to stop doing it. My advice: clamp your teeth and wait for it to be over. It's really not that bad once the waxing is done and they put some special lotion on it that makes it feel much better.

I'm a chicken in this regard, too. I have not tried waxing and I don't plan to! I use an epilator on my legs, I would not say it hurts a lot, but I can't do the bikini area with it. I imagine waxing would be just as bad, or worse.

wherever you wax, it really hurts. but, the pain is bearable. after you do it often, it wont really hurt anymore because your body already got used to it. if you keep waxing for many years, your hair will eventually stop growing.

Ouch! It hurts to just THINK about it! Actually, the first time is the worst. Over time, your skin will toughen up a bit and you'll get better at doing it and it will hurt less.

It totally doesn't hurt in my opinion.
You might feel some slight 'discomfort' or pain but its not unbearable.

For me wax really hurts. What I’m using right now is the Veet cream which is a pain free hair remover.

^I use Veet for my legs too! I prefer plucking over waxing, because it hurts so much. But after waxing, hair grows back softer than shaving so I guess the pain is worth it for some people.

It hurts the first few times but if you get into a routine the hair becomes easier to remove so therefore less pain... trust me... I do it all the time

I think its effect is like plucking too. It really hurts if it is your first time to do it but later on the pain will be lessen. But I haven’t tried it yet. I just based it with what Alfreda said. :P
