I sometimes have to turn my head to one side to hear some people or by cupping my hand behind my ears to create a larger surface area to capture sound waves.
Maybe because my ears are a LOT closer to my head the sound waves pass by. So yes there is a difference. It’s not hearing loss but due to a physical/mechanical change in the structure of my outer ear I have to change direction of my head, animals can move their ears to allow them to focus on sounds from a particular direction, dogs are a good example. We humans have fixed ears (we don’t have to hunt and are not hunted) and now mine are flat! The good news is we adapt.
