Default Having second thoughts. help me decide!

I have always hated my ears. They arent big but stick out just slightly too much for my liking. I am due to have an otoplasty procedure done on wednesday afternoon but am having some second thoughts now.

It is a very very subtle adjustment I want done to my ears because they arent too bad and also I dont want it to be noticeble that I've had them done because the only person that knows I am having the procedure done is my boyfriend. Up until yesterday I was 100% certain I was going to go through with the operation. I have booked time off work for a week and have a holiday home booked for me and my boyfriend whilst I have my bandages on but yesterday when I came across this forum and I started to read some of the posts from people who's operations havent gone to plan or who havent gotten the results they desired I began to have serious second thoughts.

I have been to two surgeons for consultations. The first one was charging £3500 and the second only £1540 for local aneasthetic so I decided to go with the second purely because it was cheaper but now I'm thinking maybe I shouldnt just go for the cheapest option with something as important as this.

I really dont know what to do now. I am afraid I have rushed into the whole thing and have just gone for the cheapest route. I know very little about the surgeon and havent seen any of his before and after patients.

Should I go through with it and hope for the best or forget about it altogether? I really do want my ears fixed but I am very worried about making them worse than they currently are. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

All i can suggest is do thorough research before you go ahead with any surgeon. There's too many cowboy surgeons out there that butcher people's bodies.

I personally would recommend someone who specialises in ears only. Someone who deals with ear reconstruction, not just otoplasty or "ear pinning". There's a few of them scattered around the world, you've just got to find them - a few have been mentioned in threads on this board.

Do your research and get it right first time, otherwise you will regret it. Travel if you have to - its better than dealing with a messed up ear.

If it is only for aesthetic reason that you want it done, and you are not very sure that you want it, nor do you trust the surgeon, then don't do it.

I would also love to hear from you, Olivia! What did you decide to do? Did you follow through with the procedure? How did it go? are you happy with the result? I hope everything is fine.

Hi Olivia! Actually, in making decision such as this, you shouldn’t choose the cheapest. You’ll be risking your body. I agree with Helma. You should make researches before you do this procedure. You should choose the one that specialize your problem so it will be hassle free. Hope you choose the right decision.
